The 6k course (shown in yellow below) is all off-road and follows rural tracks and paths of mixed terrain through woods and farmland. It's an undulating course with two steep-ish sections - including the famous 'Bite'. It can be a little muddy in places if it's wet and there are two stiles in the 2nd half of the race. Running shoes - Off-road or trail shoes if dry. Studs (Walshes or Innov8's) if wet.
Key to photos:
1. The start - a 400m dash on flat track to the top of the 'Bite' and a downhill descent.
2. Runners hit sand at the bottom of the the 'Bite' followed by undulating section through woodland.
3. Competitors emerge from a wooded bank and over the 1st stile.
4. A sweeping downhill marks the start of the final mile.
5. Runners reach the top of the 'Bite' before turning into the home straight.
