Black Country Triathlete Chris Wood retains trophy

The Badger Bite incorporates the Six Parishes Championship Trophy. The cup (donated by St Giles Church) is awarded to the first runner over the line who is a resident of either Badger, Beckbury, Kemberton, Ryton, Stockton or Sutton Maddock.

Last year's winner, Black Country Triathlete Chris Wood from Beckbury, retained his title by being the first of a dozen eligible runners to cross the line. Chris finished in 25:16, taking 1min 39 secs off his 2008 time and finishing in 22nd position overall - a tremendous achievement given the quailty of athletes in the field.

Each winner's name is engraved on the trophy and the winner is allowed to keep the cup for one year.

Chris is seen here looking quite comfortable on the home straight.

And left, receiving his award from

football legend Don Goodman.
