Near perfect conditions and a high quality field provided great promise that records could be broken in the 2009 Badger Bite - and spectators weren't to be disappointed.

For the men the race was won by Paul Ward of Wrekin RR, setting a new record time of 20:25, taking 55 seconds off the previous course best set by Dave Mansbridge in 2007.

In 2nd place was Ondrej Klesnil (U/A) in 21:17 and 3rd Patrick Kavanagh of Tipton Harriers in 21:19.

In the ladies race Deborah Walters of Birchfield Harriers showed exactly why she is British Vets Cross Country Champion, smashing the previous course record by almost 4 mins and finishing in 22:12. 2nd place went to another GB international, Claire Martin of Telford AC in 23:11 and 3rd was club team mate and last year's winner Nellie Sanders in 25:59. All six athletes finishing inside the previously held course records!

The Six Parishes Championship Trophy was retained by

Black Country Triathlete Chris Wood of Beckbury.
